נִיכּוּש, נִכּ׳,m. (נָכַש) weeding; lopping (trees). Kel. XXIX, 7 קרדום של נכ׳ (perh. נָכוֹש; ed. Dehr. נַכָּש) the axe used for lopping trees (v. Maim. a. l. ed. Dehr.); Y.Meg.I, 71b top ניכ׳; Y.Ned.IV, beg.38c מכוש (corr. acc.). Tosef.B. Mets.VII, 6 גמר נִיכּוּשוֹ (ed. Zuck. נְכִישוֹ) if he finished the weeding for which he was hired. Gen. R. s. 39 ראה אותן עסוקין בנ׳ בשעת הנ׳וכ׳ when he saw them engaged in weeding (lopping) at the proper season ; a. fr.(Pesik. R. s. 31 קטה כמין נ׳, ed. Fr. ניכו׳, read: כווי קטנה, v. כַּוָּוי; Fr. emends: כווי קטנה כמין צינור.
